Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy that helps people process and release distressing memories or experiences that continue to affect their present life. EMDR can support healing from trauma, anxiety, depression, or patterns that feel stuck, helping you feel more grounded, capable, and in your own life.

I approach EMDR from a queer, anti-colonial lens, which means I hold space for the ways systemic oppression, marginalization, and identity-based experiences shape your life and your trauma. My work centers respect, consent, and cultural awareness, and I prioritize your autonomy in the process.

EMDR uses structured techniques—often including guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation—to help the brain process memories and experiences that have become “stuck.” Sessions provide a safe container to notice, explore, and integrate these experiences with support and care.

While EMDR can be powerful, it’s always guided at your pace. Together, we focus on what feels manageable and meaningful for you, rather than rushing toward outcomes or labels.

Who EMDR Might Support

EMDR is often helpful for people experiencing:

  • Trauma or PTSD

  • Anxiety or panic

  • Depression or low mood

  • Repetitive or unhelpful patterns in relationships or life

  • Challenges related to identity, oppression, or systemic trauma

It’s a tool for anyone wanting to work with past experiences in a safe, guided, and respectful way.

My Approach

I bring curiosity, care, and grounded attention to every session. Centering queer and anti-colonial perspectives, I focus on understanding your experiences within broader social, historical, and cultural contexts. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens in relationship, and EMDR is part of that relational, embodied process.

Whether you come alone, with a partner, or in a small group, my aim is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and respected throughout your healing journey.

If EMDR feels like a fit for you, feel free to reach out!
